I’m very satisfied with the academic and college-readiness facet of Nazareth Academy. The teachers and the curriculum are both top notch in that regard. Teachers definitely care about their students, and so do the guidance counselors. My guidance counselor has been an indispensable tool to my future in college, thanks Mr. Milos! The administration is okay- my biggest problem is that it’s very cringey and seems to believe that the Nazareth Community is more diverse and accepting than it actually is. I believe this diversity aspect is one of the downsides of the academy, they preach diversity but in reality the majority of the students are white and rich. The belief system also seems to air on the side of conservatism (but when going to a catholic school there’s really no fixing this issue). Overall, I think Nazareth is a great place to prepare for college, but I don’t believe any of the friends I made at the school will stay with me in the long term.
I was lucky enough to have parents who allowed me to choose where I wanted to go to high school, and after shadowing at Nazareth in seventh grade, I knew it was the school for me. The small, tight knit, family feel impression I received on my shadow day hasn’t changed throughout these past 4 years, and I couldn’t be happier with my high school decision. The education I have received has been exceptional. I feel extremely prepared for college, thanks to my amazing teachers that have guided me to be both the student and person I am today. Whether it’s in the classroom with my teachers and classmates, or on the softball field with my teammates and coaches, everyone is always so supportive. Nazareth isn’t just a school, it is truly a family and I will forever be grateful for my 4 years at Nazareth.
My daughter is a freshman this year and her experiences has been the best so far. Being a scholar, academics have always been important for her, and I can see her always feeling challenged and engaged in her academic work. Also, the overall atmosphere of the school is welcoming and warm. She comes home happy everyday. I have also seen personally how her teachers are constantly providing her with any support she needs and their interest seems genuine. The clubs and extra curricular activities such as band and games are also well organized and safe. They are inviting and exciting. This school cares about their students well being, not only academic wise but social-emocional as well. As a parent, that is what matters the most to me, to see my daughter not only getting the education she needs for college but enjoying her high school experience to the fullest.
