The school has a large campus with lots of extracurricular activities and electives to choose from, which really allows you to explore your interests and make new friends. There are lots of AP and honor classes which have very nice and experienced teachers who want everyone to thrive. Unfortunately there is not a lot of diversity which can cause tension with teachers and students but students always will stand up for one another. The school tries it's hardest to make sure everyone has a safe and accepting environment. The school is pretty good with a few downsides that do not affect learning.
Overall Nathan Hale was a good school. Our principle was very involved with even the arts programs and that is something that means a lot to the students. The teachers were very personable and cared about their students. The couple of things I would change are about how students who misbehave are treated and the way the dress code policy is enforced. Students who misbehave are not always treated the same as their peers who do the same things as them. Everyone should be reprimanded equally and not given special privileges based on who they are. The dress code policy is enforced for girls wearing tank tops, but boys who wear a “sheet toga” without a shirt on under are high-fived by the male teachers. There is a difference between shoulders and a boy’s chest with his nipples out. All in all, this is a generally good school with a few discrimination issues, but I would recommend it for anyone living in the area.
Nathan Hale has been able to handle the situation of COVID-19 with ease as they've followed guidelines that were put in place while keeping in mind the welfare of the students. Seniors couldn't be happier about how Nathan Hale didn't cancel graduation but instead pushed it back a month. To know that even though our highschool career didn't finish out the way we wanted, we'll still be able to see our friends again as well as our supportive teachers and favorite staff members from the various classes that we've taken over the past 4 years of our lives. The high level and fast paced classes run by passionate and dedicated teachers provided an experience that was beyond impactful to my college preparation and aspirations in life.
