The academics at Mount Greylock have an extremely good reputation. This is in many cases is very accurate. Many teachers care a lot about their students. However, there are a few departments where it is either very strong or quite hit or miss. The math department is by far the strongest. The English and History departments are very hit or miss. The science, however, is quite a week link. The social aspect is very hyper-political and not always tolerant of other people's opinions. With that said I have also met some of my best friends here.

The admin is rogue. Whatever you do outside of school, in your own private life, will be reported to the school by the two local police departments if they become involved, even if no illegal activity is found. The school will then punish the students involved by preventing them from attending any extra curricular activities through the school: sports, dances, musical performances, theatre, etc. Physics and biology at this school are AWFUL: kids not ready for AP tests and awful teachers. Math and English departments are strong. However, this school is riding on the coattails of a past administration.
Mount Greylock has some of the best teachers out there. What is a major problem is competition no matter who you are at this school. There seems to be a high expectation for any student whether they are the top 10% of their class or in the 50%. But if there is anything to take away from the school is to make sure that receive help because the teachers are there to do so. Also, make sure you make friends who you are comfortable around. The school has a total enrollment of 500 students with about 200 being middle school. This besides the point, there are many friend groups to be apart of without being too cliquey. The only downsides is that the students are overwhelming White and the administration is pretty strict.
