Mt Greylock has been a great school experience. I have enjoyed both the social atmosphere and the academics. We have a great support system with Williams College. There is a large variety of Honors and AP Courses that help you prepare for college. I am thankful for the education that I have received at Mt Greylock and I feel that it has prepared me to go on to college both athletically and academically.
The academics at Mount Greylock have an extremely good reputation. This is in many cases is very accurate. Many teachers care a lot about their students. However, there are a few departments where it is either very strong or quite hit or miss. The math department is by far the strongest. The English and History departments are very hit or miss. The science, however, is quite a week link. The social aspect is very hyper-political and not always tolerant of other people's opinions. With that said I have also met some of my best friends here.
The admin is rogue. Whatever you do outside of school, in your own private life, will be reported to the school by the two local police departments if they become involved, even if no illegal activity is found. The school will then punish the students involved by preventing them from attending any extra curricular activities through the school: sports, dances, musical performances, theatre, etc. Physics and biology at this school are AWFUL: kids not ready for AP tests and awful teachers. Math and English departments are strong. However, this school is riding on the coattails of a past administration.
