I’m currently a sophomore attending Mt. Eden High School. There are many AP classes available for students to take. For example, AP World History, is a class available for sophomores to take! There are concurrent enrollment classes every semester; we only have to pay $25! The teachers are extremely supportive and kind! There are college preparation classes including Puente and Avid! I’ve been in Puente for 4 years and my experience has been really great. Puente is a space on where we are allowed to grow without having the fear of judgment. Then on, we have ROP programs!! There’s Sports Medicine 1- It’s absolutely my favorite class; we learn with hands on experience and more. I’ve volunteered at almost every football game and got to work with athletic trainers. Sports are a huge part of our school. My teammates and coaches have made it impossible for me to imagine myself without sports. Our school is also known for its excellency in the Arts.

The students that study in this school are very diverse. Along with that, students are creative, with them taking pride in their talents in the performing or visual arts. Classes could be good or bad, it depends on who teaches. Some teachers are really good, and have allowed me to learn a lot, but some are also lazy. The campus security are really nice and have friendships with some of the students. A lot of the resources are accessible and are very helpful.

The real downside of this school are the fights, though those couldn’t really be prevented. There are other instances where some students were able to bring knives, but they were caught and punished.

This is a really fun school, and students actually have school spirit.
Being a monarch at Mt Eden high school has been an overall amazing experience. Mt eden has been a place of comfort for me from the amazing AP classes that I have taken, to the amazing staff and students. I am currently a Puentista at my high school and the program has also prepared me at a college level. Monarch Day has also become a very special tradition where the whole school gathers in their class colors and represent each year. It is an event that allows us to all become as one and each student looks forward to Monarch Day each year. The diversity at my school also makes me feel comfortable in a safe environment. Mt eden has welcomed me from the start and I enjoy each and every day of being there. It has also motivated me to make to become a leader, with our leadership program and now I have become a member of the Youth Advisory Council. It has been an honor being a monarch for the last three years and I am definitely going to enjoy my senior year as a monarch!
