A wonderful small school with progressive ideas and wonderful teachers. Wonderful academics, sports and alternative choices. I have had 2 children attend this school and they both were very happy with their experience.

Most of my experience at MDIHS was very good. I was a kid who participated in a lot of activities (swimming, tennis, everything music, etc). The music program, although wonderful for some kids, can be really damaging for others. For those students who don't know how to play music, just want to continue to play, or are extremely gifted, the music program is a truly wonderful place. However, if the student is slightly less gifted than another, they will be ignored. I was one of those students. The favoritism in the music program, and the rest of the school is ridiculous, so although the academics and faculty are wonderful, the favoritism can make MDIHS really hard for students.
Our school is on an island and pretty small. So, most of the kids you have been with since kindergarten. Sometimes, that is a good thing. Other times, it is not. Our school also lacks a lot of diversity due to the fact that it is in Maine.

Overall, it was a great place to grow up. But now that I am a senior, I am looking forward to leaving Maine for a while and going west for a new adventure.

But it is also go to know that I can always come back to live on MDI.
