The teachers at mountain view truly cared about the students education and strive to present relevant and interesting information to keep students engaged. The school provided plenty of extracurricular activities and strove to create an inclusive environment for every student no matter the activity. The only problem with Mountain View is the administrations push for high test scores. The administrators emphasized the importance of testing and required teachers to set aside days for test prep, which would take away class time, especially in AP classes, to learn the material necessary for the AP tests and final exams.
Mountain View High School has great counselors, many opportunities and overall great staff. Students can take advantage of all of these by reaching out to their counselor, but students do have to make the first move. Counselors are able to work with kids and are genuinely invested in their high school experience, but they are overworked so they cannot get to every student.
Music classes are disengaging and dull. It is hard to find a good music teacher.
There will always be a few bad teachers and staff, but the majority of teachers with advanced classes are engaged with students and make an effort to teach.
Overall, the high school could improve its cleanliness (as all public high schools could), and student involvement depends on the student.
