Mountain Academy at Tetons Science Schools is an outstanding academic and nurturing leader organization. The school’s community -Board of Directors, Heads of school, teachers and parents, consistently embodies the passion and commitment to lead an exceptional progressive school.
As a parent, it has been crucial recognizing TSSMA’s strengths to the challenges of education in the future and how is setting the path to tackle those challenges, envision that future and define the approach to achieve it and the fundamental skills for students to develop in the context of that vision. Consistent to that vision are the school’s greatest impacts and best contributions to our children's academic success -its approach through education with the International Baccalaureate IB Program, Place-Based education, diversity and multiculturalism, shaping and encouraging behaviors and ethics to support our children to achieve a sustainable future.

I was one of the first students in the Journeys School and I found it to be a great place to learn. It challenged me, forced me to think critically, and gave me opportunities I wouldn't have been able to find in any another school. Because of the high teacher to student ratio, I was able to receive a personalized education that helped me to address some of the areas I was weaker in, while encouraging my interests. In addition, Journeys School helped me to make life long friends in both the faculty and students.
I also give Journeys School a lot of credit with my success in both undergrad, and graduate school. I would highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.

Throughout the school, class sizes are extremely small, making the learning experience much more effective. Kids get way more individualized attention and shy kids can become more involved in class discussions. Definitely emphasizes nature and environment, but is pretty solid on the rest of subjects. Especially in younger grades, it does well differentiating for kids who need more challenge and more support.
Definitely not a raging social scene, but it is easy to find a few really close friends. If you put in the effort, you can be involved in the social scene of the public school. Also, not very many activities, but you are able to do anything offered at the public school if you can't find it at Journeys.
Puts emphasis on projects, both group and individual, rather than tests. Of course there are some tests, but I would say we do way more projects. This is more creative and I think helps students learn more.
