Mount Vernon High School receives a lot of hate from others, and I was on that bandwagon. In middle school I used to say "I won't go to that school", but I'm actually really glad I'm here. The teachers all try their best, and in Fairfax County you can't expect every kid to go to college, or join the workforce, but I know the administration puts a lot of thought into trying to get a kid somewhere. There's something for everyone and always someone to help. I love this school!

I've never been a new student until I came to Mount Vernon High School my sophomore year. I was very nervous! A lot of the students were welcoming. Being a student at Mount Vernon taught me how to stay caught up with my grades. Compared to my old school, it was very easy to get good grades. In Mount Vernon its very different, nobody is holding your hand. If you want to succeed, you have to do it on your own. I've learned a lot of life experiences in this high school. I rate Mount Vernon High school a 4 out of 5.
My experience in Mount Vernon High school have been overall an 'okay' experience. They have a good diversity in the academics. They have AP and IB and dual enrollment. The teachers there are pretty good, there are some who know what they are doing and some who just don't know. There is an extremely diverse culture there and the clubs and activities there are overwhelming. The resources they have there are alright because they just updated all the laptops for the freshmen. In the pep rally's most of the students just leave the school and go home. So there is very little Senior and Junior involvement. I like that they have dual enrollment because I can start to go to almost college level class and be extra prepared for the college I want to go to. That is my school that I go to right to this day.
