When we moved to the area a couple of years ago, multiple people we knew at the secondary school level recommended Mt. Alvernia Academy to us as a place that "prepares children well" for 7th grade and beyond. We enrolled our children there to start in 5th and 1st grades. Due to frequent moves, we have had experience with four different elementary schools through the years, and I can honestly say that my children had a smoother (seamless even) transition to MAA than to any other school. The community is incredibly welcoming, the teachers attuned to individual student personalities and needs, and the administration accommodating. Our children have indeed been prepared well for life beyond MAA, and they have created lasting bonds with their classmates and teachers. We feel very fortunate to be a part of the MAA community.

A hidden gem, nestled atop a hill overlooking BC. The beauty of the campus is only exceeded by the beauty of the staff. If you are looking for a school to support your child's whole development, then please look no further than MAA. We moved our three boys to MAA and it was the best decision. The transition was easy as the community is very welcoming. The curriculum is top notch and by the time your child graduates he or she will be prepared. We have a sixth grader and I can attest the children are accepted into the top private and exam schools and are prepared. The students are organized, learn how to study and take responsibility for their education and their relationships with others. The teachers collaborate with the students and parents to ensure they reach their fullest potential. They know your child and care deeply about their development. Lastly, I have to say that the science curriculum is excellent. It is interactive, fun and challenging.
We LOVE our experience at MAA in Newton. We have 3 children there.

When we moved to MA, we were looking for a school that had strong academics and a friendly, welcoming, community environment.

We wanted a strong value system, with a focus on respect, kindness & inclusion. A smart teaching group with determination and focus, but also with patience, creativity and kindness was a must.

We joined 3 years ago and would never look back. We drive from a town with a great school system to MAA in Newton and don't think twice about doing it.

I dropped off our kids in the bitter cold last week in the "drop-off" line. I was greeted personally by the principal. She greeted each of my children by name and asked about their morning. The vice-principal did the same. Parents in the line shouted "hello" - it's a special, loving environment. It starts my day off the right way having that morning greeting and knowing my kids are off to a great day.
