COVID-19 Update for Prospective Students and Families:

The MPA mission is more relevant and necessary during these uncertain times as our world wrestles with the impact of COVID-19. We're back on campus for the 2020-21 school year with flexible scenarios that allow the school to pivot, if necessary. Currently, Lower School is on campus full-time while Middle and Upper School is in a hybrid model using synchronous learning when off campus. Learn More

From Mounds Park Academy

Since 1982, Mounds Park Academy has engaged students in a rigorous college-preparatory experience that inspires. Our PreK-12 academic program is demanding, but not draining, and goes far beyond memorization. Students are challenged to apply their understanding to stir the human spirit, stand for justice, and shake the world. This is what we call rigor with purpose and it is what grounds our students in the radical idea that their identity in the world is not measured by a test score, but by the depth and decency of their impact on the world.

MPA students dream big, roll up their sleeves, and take risks to build creative confidence. They apply the principles of design thinking to create real-world solutions. Extraordinary access to the latest technology allows them to transform the wildness of their imagination into inspiration for others. Students are encouraged to question the answers and by doing so, they find confidence in their voices and are ready and willing to speak.

Rigor With Purpose At MPA

The academic environment at MPA is individualized and challenging, but not overly competitive. Teachers emphasize collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and deep understanding over rote memorization, creating active, engaging, and meaningful learning opportunities with real-world applications. We dive deep into content, always attempting to answer the "why."

I'm a new parent to Mounds Park Academy. Without a doubt, my son has learned more in three weeks at MPA than he has in a whole year of public school. We are in a top rated public school district, but with the large numbers of students, there was no way he could get the education he is getting at MPA. He's excited to get to school every morning, he adores his teachers, and he's finally challenged to be academic AND thoughtful about making the world a better place for everyone. His teachers know him individually and they challenge him every day!

He is a racially diverse student and it's refreshing for him to see other students who look like him. MPA is inclusive and nurturing of all students and as a parent, I am so grateful.

It you are wondering if MPA is the right place for your child, I cannot recommend it highly enough. We have made the switch and will never turn back. We know our tuition dollars are well spent as they are giving our son the brightest future possible!

We love this school! It's great when you find a school that aligns to your values, provides the appropriate academic rigor and goes further to develop the whole child. The school teaches the whole community to "Dream Big, Do Right" and we see that in the classroom, sports, in arts and all the other opportunities provided to connect, learn and grow. Our kids have really thrived here, and are well prepared for college and beyond.
I have been really impressed at how seamlessly the school has responded to COVID-19, with great virtual programming throughout the school day for the students, and extra effort taken to keep parents connected, without skipping a beat. I am incredibly thankful we are part of this community.
Mounds Park Academy has been an incredible school for me. Ever since I joined the community in 8th grade, it has been a very welcoming and supportive environment for my colleagues and I. There is a strong sense of community here, and the students, teachers, and administration collaborate to create a learning and social environment that celebrates your successes, and is there to pick you up through the inevitable ups and downs of upper school life. The smaller enrollment and class sizes allows for a great deal of personalized attention, and the teachers really care about all their students and promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environment. The school has a very strict no bullying policy, and if any bullying occurs (which is very rare), it is addressed promptly and professionally by the staff. I would strongly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a new school in the Twin Cities area - MPA is truly like my second home!
