Overall mcauley is a really great school. Some of the great things they do: doing a lot of school activities, having a lot of school spirit, helping a lot with the college application process and making sure you get it done early. Mcauley has a lot of fun activities going on all the time; some of these include back to school events like mac2school which is basically a giant party after school , fundraisers, movies and popcorn during lunch, service dogs to let and play with during stressful times like final exams, and they just have a lot of fun clubs and events that anyone can be in. Also mcauley has a lot of school spirit; everybody comes to important volleyball games, dresses up in a theme, and cheers for the team which is really fun. Mcauley also helps out their students a lot. One of the ways they help out their students is through the math center which almost always has a math teacher to help you if you are struggling; there are no appointments so you can just walk right in.
I really loved how McAuley created a community whose outreach had no bounds. Alum and current students are easily identifiable not just by the uniforms, but rather by the confidence and skills developed at this school. I credit McAuley to my faith in myself and my overall thirst for knowledge and equality. McAuley teaches you that you will never be alone no matter when or where you are as someone will always be there to find and guide you when you’re lost. Besides all of the community based accords, this school has some of the most dedicated and connected teachers who promote learning and fairness in and out of classrooms. Obviously as a liberal arts school they do very well in theater, musical, and art departments with several students and alum receiving awards and acclaim, but many sports programs are up to par as well. Overall this school leaves a lasting legacy that any who are connected to hold forever.
The teachers are pretty great for the most part and you can find your people, but the Administration really brings it down overall. For being a liberal arts school, they don't give you much liberty in your classes or extra activities unless you're a Catherine McAuley Honor Scholar or you're legacy or have money... If Admin or Department Chairs don't like you, GOOD LUCK. The Administration was always rough, but it got progressively worse after Sister Lois Bromark left because Eileen O'Reilly is a tyrant that wants her things her way or no way and refuses to listen to students (basically told me I was a child and didn't understand, so my opinion didn't matter). Admin also does not uphold the Mission of Catherine McAuley and the Mercy Sisters but attempts to pride themselves on being a Mercy Institution. Disgrace. Also, Lifetime Advantage AND Lifetime Friendship? OH PLEASE, again, you don't get either unless Admin likes you, you're legacy, or you have money to get into certain groups.
