Morikami Park Elementary School Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 3 reviews
I have had multiple children come through Morikami Park El over the years. Despite its successes, Morikami has failed at a critical component in supporting the student experience. It has become more of an academic boot camp and less of an elementary school. Exploration, student centered learning, social interaction, and the purity of being a child not even on the radar. Teachers are entitled and egotistical with no patience, and just plain mean toward their students. Taking for granted the blessing to work with their population of students, overabundance of parental involvement, and financial support. Events, performances, field trips and other opportunities to make memories are almost nonexistent. State mandated recess is not even abided. In fact, it has become common practice to use this time to complete iReady (computer learning), hold team meetings, or find excuses like it's too hot to go outside. There is plenty more to say but I think you get the point to form your own opinion.
This is a phenomenal school. It all starts at the top, with the principal (Stacy Quinones) who is not only extremely qualified, but is out there every single day directing activities and even getting involved / supervising the car lines, among other things. Her response to COVID and quick and safe re-opening should be used as an example nation-wide.
It is a very friendly environment, teachers are professional and students are respectful. We have two kids there (grades 1 & 2) and they have developed very nicely and have been impressed by all their teachers. It is a strong academic environment, very well organized and run, and very safe. We feel a very strong sense of community, not just from teachers but also parents and other students. No wonder there is a huge waiting list to get in this school...

It's an A+mazing school where teachers are taking their time with each and every student, and making sure that every student is shining to his/her maximum in each of the subjects. The curriculum is great. Music class is a magnet for my kids, and after their choir class my kids come home so happy every time and are inspired to sing at home beautifully! Art class is very creative, Spanish is fun, Mandarin Chinese is fascinating and they hear lots of stories about China and Asia there, too. Science is strong, PT is great, Math and Language arts are Very strong and thrive in this school, too. Thank you so much for the teachers in Morikami Park Elementary for their patience and talent!
