From Moravian Academy

At Moravian Academy we develop students’ curiosity and creativity, problem-solving and perseverance, critical thinking and empathy —laying the groundwork to not merely succeed but to thrive.

It begins with curiosity. A three-year-old relishes her first school experience in the sensory adventure that is Primer. A second grader gleefully learns about history from the people who made it—who appear as speaking images on his iPad. At Moravian, a spirit of inquiry is taught through our culture of curiosity that makes learning engaging and exciting.

It continues with curiosity. “Middlers” devour current events in a fantasy geopolitics league, while seniors collaborate with kindergarteners, discovering—and rediscovering—the magic of storytelling. Beyond acquiring knowledge and skills, our students shape their education and venture into the unknown.

At Moravian, curiosity never ends. Our graduates achieve individually defined success in college and through lives of continuing exploration.

Moravian Academy helped me grow mentally, socially, artistically, and academically outside of the classroom. Because of Moravian’s diversity I’ve learned to appreciate and understand others’ beliefs, religions, sexualities, and cultures. I appreciate that Moravian challenged me. I am capable of balancing rigorous academia along with varsity sports. Moravian’s music program captured me with Suzuki violin in kindergarten. I never stopped playing. There is freedom and encouragement of all arts at Moravian. Moravian’s motto is Mind, Body, Spirit. I chose to rank Moravian (4) star because not all needs are met.

Teachers are very caring, very dedicated and student to teacher ratio is a big plus. Weekly chapel messages are a nice touch and they remain appropriately nondenominational. Unfortunately, it seems money talks as is the case in many high cost private schools, where the big donators' snobby, mean daughters are never held accountable for their actions. Competitive levels during routine things like gym activities and grades can be daunting to kids who just want to learn and enjoy school. Exclusive menacing cliques are the norm, and are not noticeably discouraged, despite different yearly "themes" like "love and understanding". If your kid doesn't follow the head honcho and does not handle overly strong personalities effectively yet , watch out. She'll be excluded from everything socially, while they have to hear the others chat about how fun the big sleepover was while they fire away nearby, ignorantly and incessantly on Snap chat and Instagram.
Coming from a boarding school, I did not know what to expect coming into a local day school. However, once I stepped onto campus at Freshman Orientation, I knew that this school was the one for me. Especially after I head what their motto was: "school of love and understanding", for everyone was so welcoming and kind to me. Additionally, the food was delicious. My liking towards the school got better as the years went by, now that I've experienced everything there is at Moravian Academy.
