Monterey Bay Academy (MBA) is a coeducational Christian boarding high school (grades 9-12) located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. MBA’s 380-acre campus has its own one-mile stretch of private beach that offers a picturesque setting for students to experience challenging academics and social development. Most importantly, this all takes place in a safe and nurturing atmosphere that recognizes Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, therefore fostering the spiritual growth of our students. Our culturally diverse student population is derived from our local communities of Santa Cruz, San Jose and San Francisco, as well as from cities across the U.S. and the world.

Aviation Program

We offer ground school to help our students pass the FAA written exam. With our flight simulator, students are able to practice flying lessons in a virtual environment. Students are also taken throughout the year to the Watsonville airport to get real-time flying experience with a flight instructor. Those hours are logged & count towards flight time needed to take the FAA practical flight test.

I have found Monterey Bay Academy to be a very beautiful place with welcoming people. The staff are as always willing to do what they can to help, and the students are friendly and kind. I have been blessed to have experienced MBA as both a parent of a student and then as a staff member. As a parent I felt that my son was cared for by his teachers, and he made some wonderful friends. There were fun activities for him to participate in, and of course, there was the beach to go to every weekend. As a staff member, I have been privileged to work with some of the most caring and helpful people!
They truly love the students and try to encourage and guide students toward success in both their academics and their character development. Monterey Bay Academy has been a great blessing!

A great place to have the best of all worlds. Has a good music program, athletics, good teachers and, of course, a private beach!
Monterey Bay Academy is the best thing that I have ever been a part of. The welcoming feeling from when I first stepped on campus was truly spectacular in that I felt I was home. That feeling has never left me in the two years I have been here, and I am sure it will stay like that for the rest of my high school experience. The faculty are always so caring and generous to the students when they need help or someone to just talk to. The academics are great. Athletics are outstanding. Music is exceptional. So many things to be a part of. Between travelling band, scuba diving certifications, and aviation classes, no one could have anything less than a wonderful time at MBA.
