My four year experience at Monte Vista high school was extremely memorable. From football games, to school dances, I left that school with lifelong friends and teachers I can't wait to go back and visit! One thing I think Monte Vista does a great job of is stressing college readiness to their students through their rigorous courses. I am soon to be an incoming freshman at Boise State University and I feel well prepared for the classes I will be taking.

Monte Vista is located in a very affluent area, and therefore much of the student body is focused on extracurriculars and activities that either have high incentives. There are spectacularly rated sports, music and choir departments, and extremely high achieving due to the intense pressure put on the parents of students and standards the teachers and district. Eventually, this prepares Monte Vista Students well for college, but the pressure is so great it causes much strife and compromises mental health. Small niches like drama, art, robotics, etc. make inclusive communities for students willing to participate in, and although the campus is sterile, the art department is a wonderful setting. Overall, teachers care, students try, and it is what you make it.
I loved the teachers/staff if that school, they really do care for their students and want to see them progress/success. In nearly every class, the teachers would form a close to parental bond with students, allowing it to become very easy to talk about any concerns with grades, the work they are doing, or sometimes just to talk about life. The only thing that was a little bit harsh, was the students themselves, obviously not every student but more rather than less; the school is in a pretty wealthy area, so a majority of these students are most likely spoiled and just have nasty attitudes. While there was snobby students like this, there wasn't a lot of bullying per-say--but things like disrespecting the teacher, severe forms of judgment, and being very unapoligetic if they did something wrong.
