Monte Vista prepares its students for college very well. However, this also means that there is a lot of pressure from both the school's parents as well as students. There is a lack of cultural and ethnic diversity (the student body is largely made up of White and Asian students). This pressure is carried over into the sports as well, however, if a student can handle the pressure-cooker environment, they are very prepared academically for college (specifically, large universities such as UC Berkeley that continue the same academic environment and pressure). Besides academic preparation, the bubble that Monte Vista is located in makes students a little bit less prepared for the "real world". Overall, Monte Vista is a good school academically and socially for most students.

Monte Vista prepared me for college through offering many AP classes and having a rigorous curriculum. Many teachers were very passionate about what they were teaching, which helped me stay an active listener in class and wanting to be involved in the class. Due to the academic competition among students, this pushed me to work harder, not for anyone else but myself. Overall Monte Vista provided me a good high school education and experience.
Monte Vista High school is a pretty diverse school with lots of different people. Most of the people there are friendly enough and will start small conversations here and there, they're really easy to talk to. However, there is also a lot of "other" things that go on in the background of this school. Most of the teachers are decent and nice. Overall, it's a pretty nice school, however, the students are also very competitive here, academic and athletic-wise.
