I went to MKA from 1st grade through high school, and provided you have the means, I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend sending your child there.

The academics are far more rigorous than almost anywhere else in the country, especially when it comes to reading and writing. How do I know this? As a freshman at a top college, it quickly became apparent that work that was completely routine at MKA was difficult for the vast majority of my classmates.

The one thing MKA is not, is a factory for Ivy League placement. If your overriding concern is having your child attend the most prestigious possible college, then you should know that grades here are not inflated, the school's focus is not maximizing college outcomes.

But if your concern if finding a place where your child can flourish, where they will grow intellectually and socially, have opportunities to pursue arts and athletics, develop in every way as a person, then I am confident you will not find a better school in the state.

I can’t rave enough about the MKA primary school. My daughter was a new student in the first grade and struggled academically in the beginning of the this school year. By the end of this school year, she has improved tremendously in her reading, writing and math skills. More importantly, my daughter’s mindset has improved too. She now believes that she is competent and does not become easily discouraged. I think MKA has a good balance between nurturing and providing the students with challenging curriculum. The faculty really got to know my child very well and paid close attention on how to help her. I really appreciate the faculty’s candid and thorough evaluation of my daughter and recommendations for improvement. Please contact the school for any questions about the curriculum. The faculty and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. MKA is a very special place and I am so happy that my husband and I chose to send our daughter to school there.
I am a senior who has been at MKA since Pre-K. What they call a "lifer." It was a wonderful community to grow up in, yet at times was often cushy and shielding of the real world. I was able to come out of it with a good head on my shoulders due to my experience with people outside of MKA. The diversity at first glance is what ones expect for the area but upon closer examination, it seems they could do a better job of maintaining a diverse staff filled with a range of AHANA and white staff members as well as other types of diversity such as sexuality, gender, socioeconomic background ect. Sometimes the students come off as ignorant but the school tries hard to bring some knowledge, but again sometimes it's until no avail. Overall I feel that I am extra prepared academically for college. I wouldn't trade my experience at MKA for anything.
