My experience was amazing. I loved the teachers and everyone and how they believed in me and supported me.
I had an amazing experience at montclair high school. The teachers were quality and really prepared you for college courses.
While I have since graduated from Montclair High School, I can honestly say after the fact that I appreciate the insight and high school experience I was allowed. Just like any other suburban high school, there are cliques, parties, the whole 9 yards. Although, the experience at Montclair High was so much more than that. Compared to those in my university, I was given a more comprehensive and diverse look at what the world could be like. Everyone at this school, in this town, coexists quite harmoniously. Not perfectly, nothing is perfect, but compared to those I've spoken to outside of Montclair, the environment at Montclair High is unmatched. As I hear it, Montclair high is faced with some structural issues and that is something that is currently being resolved. Also, I am not sure in what way, if at all, that the parking situation has been resolved but I believe that they should allow student discounts since the school itself does not offer a parking lot.
There's no other school like MHS. You're able to be who you want to be and can find any group of people who enjoy the same interests as you do. All the teachers care and put in lots of work to help you. They all sacrifice their time to help you out. All are so understanding and kind. MHS is a bridge to unite everyone and I love my school!
This is a wonderful school, has so many programs to help students achieve higher academic goals and athletic achievement. Has about 4 small learning communities that are important and helps kids prepare for college and the outside world. A great place to attend.
Montclair High School consistently sends more kids to IVY, NESCAC, polytechnic and prestigious, ancient academic institutions than any other public high school in the state. In fact, it sends close to a hundred kids to little ivies and public ivies. It is not uncommon to see 8 or more students accepted to Cornell. MHS alumni can be found attending Cambridge, Trinity, Oxford, St Andrews, Stanford, etc..
It has a high degree of school pride and plenty of reasons to justify it. It's full of beautiful kids from diverse backgrounds and even international students from England, Spain, Sweden, etc.. Sports teams like CREW/Rowing are National Champions for years in a row. Football? State Champs. And original Lacrosse institution, teams regularly place sectional titles, and players are committed to D1 programs by Sophomore year. Did I mention the Latin and Economics programs or the Dentistry lab or the AP Mandarin courses?

It was an amazing experience, but the culture can be very privileged. People don't think bullying happens, but it's very covert bullying. If you can't find your place, you can feel very lonely.
My overall experience at Montclair High School has been amazing! The teachers and staff are incredibly helpful in preparing students for college and encourage us to find activities that we enjoy to identify possible careers for our future. You will find multiple races and ethnicities in every classroom which makes it easy to make new friends. There is a plethora of clubs and activities where students can explore their interests. Sports are very popular at Montclair High School and games are a time where we all come together as a family to support our teams. Our school has a strict no-bullying policy which allows people to freely express themselves without having to fear about getting judged by others. At Montclair High School, people can feel a sense of community where students are comfortable with one another.
I love the diversity of Montclair High School. It's such a welcoming environment that made me love going to school. The clubs and programs offered at the high school are unlike any I've seen anywhere else.
My daughter has been in the Montclair school system since kindergarden. I have always loved the teachers and counselors. They are very active in the students education and they are always available to parents.
Starting as a new student at Montclair High was the best choice for me. Even though everyone thought transferring to a new school my senior would be extremely hard, it actually wasn't. This school has offered and is continuing to offer me great opportunities and experiences. The teachers at Montclair High motivate you to learn and help whenever you're struggling.
The students at Montclair High School are all extremely open minded, kind, and diverse. MHS offers a great selection of classes and teachers that are all extremely helpful in the process of learning and becoming a smarter and more experienced student.
Compared to the last high school I went to, coming here was great. The variety of classes is great and guidance counselors push you to take more challenging courses. The teachers are willing to help you out if you need it.
The extracurriculars depend on the person's interest. There are so many different clubs and organizations that someone can attend and fill their interests and have fun. I have the pleasure of being apart of a book club, a culinary club, an anime club and also a Kpop club. These clubs sparked my interest and they made me feel happy and also apart of a larger community of like minded individuals.
My favorite and most memorable experience attending the four years of Montclair High School was being apart of and involved in the Montclair High School band and Marching Band. Those were some of my most favorite, laugh out loud, extremely nurturing and life lesson experiences. It made me realize how much I loved music and appreciated it, and always built up my confidence. My band director Dr. Wasko was a phenomenal teacher and genuinely cared about the interests of the students.
My overall experience at Montclair High School had an immense plethora of amazing, motivated, dedicating, hard working and engaging teachers. Each year I always had one or two teachers that I really liked and liked what they taught and their lesson plans. As a college student now, I can honestly look back and say I have learned so much from Montclair High School and it is an advanced preparatory college school. It's also abundantly diverse and also very engaging.
ALmost everyone is involved in either a club or sports team
