Monroe Central High School (MCHS) is situated in a rural community, however, it is a well-known failure for academics. MCHS was once named the worst of the worst in a news paper article regarding academics. Teachers seem to not care, or if they do, they do not show it the classroom. Assignments are given and tests administered without teachers really having to eject themselves to their feet. They set, as students do, behind the desk rarely ever showing an example or giving a lecture. Once students graduate and move on to college, they are at an extreme disadvantage. While the student next to them in the 8:00 a.m. Monday morning class is breezing through the Algebra 101 quiz, MCHS graduates struggle to make sense of the equation before them. I hope in the future, MCHS establishes a goal to become a better school and to rank a little higher on the academic list.

I had a pretty good experience at MC, graduated in 2017. I was involved in like everything and altho I wish it prepared me more for college since I go to Ohio State, I strongly believe mind over matter and that you have to put an effort in. I took honors classes and AP English, and still graduated with a 4.2, so it is not that hard to get good grades there. A decent amount of the teachers care but there are some that could put some more effort into their teaching and not gossip around the students. I know they recently rebooted the FFA program, so I can’t wait to see where that goes because I’ve seen the impact it has had on my college friends. My advice, just get involved in the school and community, you maybe in a small town, but make the most of it.
I'm an alum and graduated several years ago. When I attended Monroe Central High School, it was pretty average. The staff and faculty usually cared but overcoming the structural and organizational challenges of being a small school in a rural community is sometimes too much.
