Moanalua High School is full of students who are preparing for college, spirited, polite, and ambitious. They are given a chance to showcase their talents, leadership, and pursue their career goals by joining a variety of organizations. In addition, students and admin at this school have good relations with each other where students are able to go up to teachers for help and even hang out in there classrooms during their free time. These teachers also support their students' dreams, even if it means not going to college. Additionally, the diversity regarding race and sexuality at this school is outstanding. The food and facilities also suffice. There is a problem with the neighborhood around the school, which is addressed in recent letters from the school. Furthermore, this high school could have more parent-involvement, a lenient dress code system, and less drama between students. Overall, the students and staff at this school are very positive.
The academic and student involvement at Moanalua is incomparable to any other public school on island. Moanalua has so much to offer it’s students. From academics, athletics, clubs, activities, and extracurriculars. Moanalua has cultivated a culture that is dedicated to providing each student with the best opportunities for success. Moanalua is a school that has culture and tradition…but It is also a progressive school that is perpetually changing to create an optimal environment for students to thrive in. I was able to capitalize on opportunities such as athletics, student government, and AP classes. All of which contributed to the positive experience I had at Moanalua.
Moanalua High school has various classes and departments that really allow their students to explore their interests. The faculties are significantly updated, adding to the great and welcoming atmosphere. However, in recent years, they have constantly been implementing new changes into their curriculum, which makes it difficult for some to adjust. This school could improve if all teachers were passionate about the students learning. Aside from some teachers, many focus on “independent/ self-taught” learning which does not fit every child’s needs.
