Mission Vista High School Reviews
Rating 4.14 out of 5 570 reviews
As an upcoming senior at Mission Vista High School, I have witnessed both the peaks and valleys of the school. My freshman year was spent meeting the faculty and my peers through a computer screen, unable to have a true feeling for what the school was like. The spring of my freshman year, I was able to experience in-person learning for the first time on the beautiful, nature-filled campus. My classmates and I were all ecstatic to be back and it was an extremely welcoming environment. Mission Vista often encourages creativity and self-expression, and each individual is unique from the rest. In the following two years at the school, I have continued to have wonderful experiences intertwined with slight discrepancies. The staff, although amazing, can sometimes have questionable expectations for the students, mainly including hypocritical dress-code enforcement or the slight sexualization of students. Despite the few uncomfortable moments, the academics and positive scene persevere.
Mission Vista High School is a great school for anyone interested in accelerated learning with regards to arts and sciences. As a STEM focused school there are a lot of different resources to accelerate learning. The teachers are amazing and give ample support both in and outside of the classroom. The extracurricular activities are also abundant allowing for students to get involved where they want to be. For me that was participating in the Steel Drum ensemble, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Rock the Hill (a music show). Overall I really enjoyed my experience here and will cherish the memories forever. Hardly anything bad to say about the school.
As a Mission Vista High School alumni, I hold very fond memories of being a captain of the D1 field hockey team, being enrolled in the four-year biomedical course way, and being a vice president to Peer Leaders Uniting Students. The school's consistent and empathetic counseling team fostered my success day one of freshman year to graduation; especially when it came time to apply for college. The counseling center provided mental health support, scholarship resources, and working-student assistance. Every student could develop genuine friendships through sports, clubs, and collaborative class work. I cannot forgot the beloved janitor, Jaime, wearing his cowboy hat, joking with students during lunch, and honking his cart horn at every sporting event cheering us on.
