Although I will admit that Mission Heights is not for everyone, I have enjoyed attending it for my high school years. I have been at Mission for four years, and have been pleased with what I have experienced. Mission is a small school, and my class consists of only 101 people. The teachers are incredible and genuinely care about their students' learning. I have never once hesitated to go to a teacher if I needed assistance, advice, or just someone to confide in. That being said, the school is lacking in major sports opportunities and the stereotypical "high school experience" that many upcoming students crave. Overall, I would recommend Mission to anyone who thrives in a small, close knit environment, but would suggest that anyone seeking a large school with lots of opportunities look elsewhere.
The education, extracurriculars and opportunities available have become the only fully positive benefit of Mission as all other areas are lacking.
Most teachers and members of administration show blatant favoritism for some students which impacts schooling, communication and some opportunities. Administration makes changes in various areas each year that are poorly planned and even more poorly implemented, all while real problems go ignored or are 'solved' just as poorly. The school is in dire need of space and amenities to serve its exploding student population but those things are slow to come and are again poorly thought out.
But compared to other schools in the district its education is superior and the seer number of opportunities, like CAVIT, dual enrollment, YE, AP classes, sports, are unparalleled. It is definitely worth dealing with the flaws, unless they worsen, in exchange for a quality education.

When thinking of my experience at Mission Heights the most noteworthy thing about the school would have to be the teachers. Because when you have teachers who truly care and take the time to know their student's struggles rather than going through the motions makes all the difference. Before coming to high school I had this preconceived notion that I was never going to be good at math, that I just wasn't a math person. And when my teacher heard me say that he told me "You're not a math person because you convinced yourself your not. By believing that, you're conceding, you're giving up on yourself. So until you get out of that mindset, you will never be a math person." And that stuck with me. So rather than putting in the same amount of effort as my classmates, I had to work harder at it, because it wasn't an issue of my intelligence but comprehension. Since then I haven't let myself get a grade lower than a B in math. That's what the school Mission Heights inspires in its students.
