Mission Early College High Reviews
Rating 4.36 out of 5 14 reviews
Based off public middle and elementary schools I’ve been to, I feel like Mission Early college high school has my goals in mind and check up on my progress weekly! I also feel more in touch with reality because of how mature many of my college classmates are. The only bad part of this high school is that we have more of a college experience than high school. And by this I mean I get to know what college life is but not know what it’s like to be a part of a sports team, or attend prom and homecoming.I wish it was easier for us to attend other highschool’s dances and clubs without being enrolled there.
Absolutely amazing school! The teachers actually care about students' success and do everything in their power to help students achieve their goals. And, the classes are small, which is amazing! Most teachers provide meaningful work that'll help students later in life. The office is super helpful in schedule changes and any problems you have. My academic counselor is super helpful in picking out colleges and helping me construct my college path. The campus itself is clean and nice, and the students are all very welcoming. I wish there were more clubs and awards like the larger schools in the area. For example, we don't have NHS, or any organized varsity and JV teams. But, you are always welcome to start your own club if you want! This school has really prepared me for college, as I've gotten a taste of college classes. The school culture is positive, and everyone pushes you to do your best. I haven't seen much parent involvement, but there wasn't a need for any.
After my sophomore year, I transferred from Santa Clara High to Mission Early College High School (MECHS) because I wanted to be able to take advanced math and science courses that weren't offered at Santa Clara. MECHS provided me the opportunity to take dual enrollment classes, meaning I could engage in a variety of community college courses without restrictions. I really appreciate the opportunity that MECHS gave me, and although I was at first doubtful about switching schools because I wouldn't be able to participate in athletics at MECHS, I had the time to play club sports, so I wasn't missing out on much from Santa Clara. All the teachers and staff here are incredibly supportive and understanding, and they're willing to put in the time and energy to get to know each student and make sure they get where they want to go.
