Definitely an average to below-average school, definitely happy I'm leaving soon, the most annoying thing is that the bathrooms are rarely open cause kids are always getting caught vaping. PEOPLE NEED TO PEE! School is constantly under construction, and they obsess over IB classes and the IB diploma which is basically pointless and you don't even get it till MONTHS after you graduate and you're already in college. We don't have much school spirit AT ALL especially compared to other schools in the SD area. Our "Preservationists" band is great though! However, forgot to mention the multiple lockdowns and fire drills where a majority of the teachers don't even know what to do. last year we had a lockdown and some of the teachers literally let their students out of class, and one teacher even left school and didn't show up to her class, I guess it's every man for themselves here. Giving it 3 stars though cause I'm graduating so there's some potential for students to succeed.

There is less bs high school drama here than most schools (though there still is a fair amount, of course). A majority of the teachers are very nice, and a few are very good at their jobs. Being a full IB student is rough, but if you are smart, your teachers are nice and are on your side for the most part. The math teacher Mr. M is the best teacher I have ever had! He teacher precalc, calc, and IB Math SL, and he absolutely prepares students for college.

Our sports teams are fairly decent. Our football team is not, but our boys basketball team won CIF open division last year. Girls and boys soccer is really good, and all the other minor sports are never last place.

On a bad note, the bathrooms are terrible. ASB tries but we have no spirit at this school. Also, the traffic is terrible.

Overall, Mission Bay is aggravating, but an ok school. I can't wait to get out of there and go to college...
Over the course of my 4 years at Mission Bay, I would say that the school has improved tremendously. I am fortunate enough to be a part of the IB Diploma program, which I feel is very challenging and preparing me well for college. As for the languages, the Mandarin Chinese program has gone through many changes and has definitely improved. Now, there are various courses offered to Chinese students, specifically the Chinese immersion courses we started providing last year. I additionally take Spanish, however, I do believe the program could improve a bit more, as many students are not speaking as much as needed when learning a foreign language. Apart from the language department, the school has been developing its exterior for the past couple of years; this year it finally is coming all together. Many plants are being added, as well as air conditioning, improving the environment I am in every day. Overall, I enjoy my school and I am glad and fortunate to say I am a student there.
