Milwaukee High School of the Arts (MHSA) is a school that filled with a lot of talented students which everyone of them must have a majors that they're interested in learning or know more about it. Most of the students that graduated from MHSA and are continuing college and usually chose the same major they had back in MHSA. I just graduated from MHSA recently and couldn't be more grateful than I can ever be for all the experience I got while majoring in orchestra; playing the violin. All the fun experience I had while learning how to play violin with my humorous teacher and all my talented friends will always be in my memories. Having teachers that genuinely cares about your education and really push you to your best is what makes me feel very welcomed at MHSA. All the teachers at MHSA are very humorous and caring, they cared for us as if we are their kids, I shared some of my problems with my teachers and they're the best and also my most trusted adult beside my mother.
Although I do enjoy the art-related activities and opportunities here, the appeal of the school is removed once we look at the policies in place. Since I transferred here my Junior year, a policy has been put in place in which our phones are taken every day. Sometimes I feel like the administration focuses more on discipline than education and that is where my concern lies. There are lots of welcoming and kind students and teachers, and I have formed many connections during my short year and a half here.
At the beginning of my school career, everyone was extremely passionate about the arts, there was people playing music in the halls, lots of in-school performances and everyone was on a similar wave length. After covid the artsy vibe has been lost a little but they're starting to bring it back and make the school more enjoyable.
