Mills is a wonderful place! We've had both our kids there since they were toddlers now in Elementary. It's a small school with skilled, Involved and caring teachers and administrators. It's nestled within the beautiful Mill’s college campus that’s explored frequently by classes. I highly recommend this to any family that's looking for a diverse community and high-quality education for their children. Our What we love most about Mills is the that our family is connected and held within the community, and our kids wake up excited to learn with their friends and teachers every day.
One of the most important components of a school is their academic program. While many school sites are able to wax poetic about their culturally relevant, rigorous, and engaging curriculum, unfortunately all do not deliver on their promises. MCCS carefully crafts and develops their curriculum using research based practices (it is a lab school connected to the university's school of education after all!) and the efficacy of their honed curricular development is exaggeratedly clear in the way the students learn. I have had the privilege of attending all of my daughters' end of year exhibitions and two field trips. The way students are able to talk about their learning (whether it’s describing the 4 forces of flight or the delicate ecosystem of the rocky seashore) , ask excellent questions, and persevere through challenging tasks shows the depth and retention of their learning.
We love MCCS!! Our daughter has been here since kinder and is going into third and our son just completed TK and will be going into kindergarden. We love the small class sizes, wonderful teachers and administrators, access to art, Spanish, and music, and deep commitment to educating the whole child- mind, body, spirit. Our kids love school and are growing into thoughtful, well-rounded, empathetic kids. The campus is beautiful and they get access to the large, lush grounds for nature walks and exploration. We are so grateful to have found MCCS.
What I personally liked about the school firstly is the environment is very friendly and welcoming. Also the campus is very beautiful and well taken care of as well as the students who are strongly supported and encouraged by their advisors. They also have a very strong support system which is great for every student.
I like the beautiful small campus and sense of community that you feel every day. Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. I would change the class sizes and make them a little bigger to fit more students interested in the courses.
