There are so many clubs for students to join that only last 45 minutes each. There's band, choir, and orchestra for musically gifted students. There are art clubs like sculpting, mural design, and ceramics, and a separate art club. Unfortunately, there isn't a dance team, but there is one in Yorktown High School. There is a sign language club, Garage Band, Actor's Workshop, Songwriter's Workshop, Foreign Language clubs, Circle of Friends for special needs students, Adobe Photoshop and Yearbook, academic triathlon, Budding Chefs for future cooks, Culture Club, Game Club, FBLA, Jazz Workshop, Living History, stage makeup, 3D printing club, T-shirt design, student council, VIP club, variety show, and a musical. Now, there is your list of clubs at MESMS.
In 2011, Mildred E. Strang Middle School won the National Blue Ribbon School, which was a wonderful honor. Recently, it has won National School of Character and is rated one of the top middle schools and best school district in its county. There are so many fun activities the PTA and school encourages students to do, like the Egg Drop contest. Also, the Rachel Joy Scott and Dr. Michael Fowlin assemblies promote respect and anti-bullying. The eighth-graders go on a trip to Rye Playland in May or June to celebrate their graduation. Finally, the commencement ceremony and school dance sponsored by the PTA is the most memorable time. I have had a wonderful experience at MESMS.
