Generally, I feel like I’ve had a great experience at this school! Most teachers I’ve had are super encouraging and passionate about their subject, and staff members are willing to help in anyway they can (shout out to Mrs. Miles, the college and career counselor!).
Curriculum wise, there are a lot of great electives to explore that cover a broad range of interests. A pretty big con though is that regular classes feel very poorly planned in comparison to AP classes; assignments don’t actively prepare you for tests and you have to teach yourself the material if you want to understand the subject. And, although it certainly helps prepare you for university, the intense atmosphere of advanced classes can be incredibly stressful for even the best students.
All that being said though, I’ve had a great four years at Midway HS! Stand out teachers, great AP classes, and a phenomenal implementation of modern technology make me feel more than prepared for life after high school.

Midway was like any other High School. I was on the Color Guard team which was the best part of my junior and senior year there. I would say the worst part was feeling like the administration didn't always care. It is hard in a school that big to see and meet the needs of all its students. It always seemed as if the athletics department received more than the rest of the school which was often annoying from someone who wasn't involved in athletics. Overall Midway is a good school and really prepared me for college!
As a current senior of Midway High School I have truly seen the ups and downs of this school. As a student that grew up in an underdeveloped school district prior to starting Midway ISD, this has been the best I have seen in this area of Texas. Midway High School takes sports and our school spirit seriously and it allows the us, the students to let go every once in a while. Academia wise, our science field is the greatest. We have diverse options suit for every student. Something I would like to see differently here at this district would probably have to be how teachers treat certain students. There have been issues throughout my years and they have been shut down simply because the teacher had been employed for a long amount of time. I would also like to have a Psychology 101 class here for future students. This high school has given me the comfort of getting prepared for college and I am grateful for Midway ISD.
