I like the diversity of this school district. One thing I would like to change is the academics in this school and there inconsistency.
Great school! All of the teachers are super helpful and are super nice! The guidance department and career center definitely help prepare you for your future and help you with the college application process. They have great sports teams and a variety of student activities as well!
I have attended Middletown High School for all four years of my high school experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at MHS, but I am also prepared to leave. I believe administration can do a better job of working with and handling students with behavioral issues, and I can speak from experience. I have seen students with behavioral or mental issues cast aside or disregarded on multiple occasions by security and admin. If a student is in need they should be receiving help from a counselor or ESS advisor, not a security guard who is unaware of how to handle the situation. I also think that there should be equal treatment of all sports, as football and basketball are very obviously favored by the athletics department.
School is nice along with classroom size. Staff is helpful and encouraging. The course selections suit me.
Overall a great school and environment. I learned a lot at this school. Definitely my best memories there is the Agriculture program I was in (FFA) where we worked with animals and learned about agriculture, mechanics, plant science, and the environment.
The environment of the school was just good the teachers were to help if needed it and if you needed to talk to someone they were always there for you no matter what it was.
As a student, I appreciate the daily schedule that the school follows (A and B day. x4 1hr long classes every day) The school has recently started providing more resources to help juniors and seniors at the school plan for their life after high school whether that be a 4-year university or not. Since the start of the corona, the administration seemed a little unorganized as they were figuring out a plan to continue the year online.
Middletown High School is a great place to learn and grow. I have mostly enjoyed the technology classes. I have also gotten involved in a number of sports and extracurricular activities. The music program is excellent! I play percussion and enjoy performing in the multitude of productions. I am involved in Morning News and have been involved sports all four years of my high school career. I have met some great friends and have good relationships with my teachers!
I loved Middletown High School for several things, one of which being the abundance of opportunities to branch out of my comfort zone. Prior to high school, I tended to keep to myself, which is something that I wanted to change going into high school. I involved myself in several different sports teams and clubs in high school, making many friends and connections in the process. One thing that I believe can be improved on is the transition from high school to college. Not speaking for every one, but some staff put lots of pressure on seniors and juniors to decide what they want to do for a career. While this is definitely something not to tale lightly, having all of this pressure at this stage in life can lead to one making rash decisions that can cost a lot of time and money.
Career center for all grades to help plan life after highschool. The guidance department and teachers are great.
The sports are really nice and everyone is always wanting you to be better. The art program is amazing here but it doesn't get enough funding from the school. You'll love or hate most of your teachers and your teacher will determine your experience with any given class.
Good teachers, good curriculum and also good class options/ choices. For activities and events not much administration communication to students or each other.
It could have been better. It also could have been worse. Most of the teachers really do care about the students and try their best to help them succeed but the administration can most accurately be described as "absent" during my time there. You get what you put in for most of the classes, but they are not geared towards actually teaching students- but for standardized test performance.
As a student at Middletown High School I can truly say Middletown High is one of the best schools in the state of Connecticut. Although others have their opinions on what’s goes on at Middletown High School I can really say that Middletown High raises young adults who are ready for the real world. Middletown High has given me the opportunity to be surrounded by so much diversity. It is a place where all are welcome no matter race, religions , or sexuality. There is a place for everyone to fit in whether that is a club or one of our sports teams. As a writer for the school paper I have also had the opportunity to talk to so many people from my school and learn about them. For the large size of the school , there is a huge sense of community and pride. The school itself is also very nice. Our sports facilities and clean and updated. The school building is also updated and a great learning environment. Middletown high has taught me so many lessons.
Middletown High was an overall good high school experience with the common ups and downs all high school students goes through.
I was involved in a lot of school-based activities, sports, and clubs and I had an absolute blast throughout my 4 rigorous years at Middletown highschool
The school is a good size, as well as the curriculum is well rounded from college prep to AP. They have multiple extracurricular activities and sports that can benefit you in any of your interests. However, what I Would change is the cleanliness of the school especially in the bathrooms.
