The classes offered were easy, and it’s a small school. I knew everyone in my graduating class because we all went to school together our entire lives.
I would like to see more clubs and all around school spirit. There is more encouragement for “wearing the correct clothes” than education as well.
At Middlesex High, I like how diverse our students are as well as how great the teachers are. I also love our sports´ teams.
I really enjoy these past years at middlesex High school and cannot wait to graduate from here. They handled the lockdown and Covid amazing, we have gotten to learn as we normally would with the school taking in the mental effects this has all students and teachers have been super understanding with kids struggling with online classes or our hybird option (I am doing hybird). I am very thankful for many teachers who care for their students as if they are their actually children. They have helped me with my future career path and life advice. I am very Thankful for Middlesex High School. If there was one thing I could change is for the school to get new computers. A lot of our computers are old and do not suit well with online school.
My experience at this school was great. The teachers always were willing to help me when I needed help. There was a sense of community at the school. The school also has a great Advance Placement (AP) and Dual Enrolment (DE) classes.
It was a good school I played football and track and the teams were good when I played some of the teachers are weird but all in all they have your best interest at heart
I love how the teachers interact with students and help them through tough times. I also love all the classes I got to choose from and get to try so many new things. The counselor always makes sure you are ready for college and are as stress-free as possible.
Middlesex High School is excellent. The teachers were down-to-earth and the school is small and this tight knit.
If I had to choose a high school to go to for any of my family memebers entering high school it would definitely be MHS! From the staff down to the food, I’d do it all again.
My overall experience at Middlesex High School has been positive. We are a small rural community where everyone does really know everyone. Each grade level, 9th through 12th, averages about 100 students per grade. The Middlesex school community is very involved and invested in educating the children with the limited resources that enable a rural community. There are opportunities offered in a variety of areas for those who have already decided on their chosen career fields. The school offers Advanced Placement and Duel Enrollment courses. It also partners with the Chesapeake Governors School and Bridging Communities to provide college credit courses in a variety of fields. If the student is motivated they can accomplish a great deal prior to graduation, even earn an associates degree from the neighboring community college.
The resources available at MHS are its strongest point. They do not have all AP courses available, but they have several in multiple fields. They also have a partnership with Rappahannock Community College that provides several DE courses. Students have access to Chesapeake Bay Governor's School and the Bridging Communities program, both of which provide college credit. CBGS is probably better preparation for college due to its difficult curriculum.
On the negative side however, MHS does not maintain itself very well. The hallways, gymnasium, and fields look nice, but the bathrooms and some classrooms have gone for months without any apparent cleaning, and some of these rooms are in disrepair. One bathroom went several months with a broken and empty paper towel dispenser, only to have the paper towels left in the broken shell for several more months after. The Spanish department is also severely lacking in classroom management, though most other departments excel.

I appreciated the work ethic presented by Middlesex High School staff. We need improvement on discipline practices, but overall, Middlesex has a very good school system.
I like how it is close-knitted and focused on the students. The teachers are devoted to their job of teaching us. I think that the school lunch and the school events could be improved.
Since we are such a small community, most of us are family. We look after one another and even though their are cliques we mostly get along. We don't have race issues, most of us have been together since diapers.
The school offers many after school activities, whenever students become interested in a club, the administration works hard to put it together so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy their high school career.
The community is a very safe, and relaxing place to be. Parents are very involved in the education and always push the kids to do their best.
Teachers help students to engage in learning with technology and try their best to use a diverse way of learning to see what works. They also work extra hours to help kids after school that struggle in class.
