Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School offers a stellar graphic design program. We receive a well rounded education. The program encourages creativity and provides real-world experiences through field trips. I do have a strict graphic design teacher but she keeps us at our feet so we are best prepared for the class.
I've attended my school for the past four years and as bad as it has been I have learned a lot about the world and myself. I have met my best friends here, had my worst days here, and my best days. The teachers can tell if you're having a bad day and if you want to talk about it they'll listen. I'm so happy I chose this school for my high school experience.
Honestly, I really like my school. For the lost part, the teachers are easy to get along with, and are very respectful. They also have very good ways to get the information to the students they teach. For facilities, our school has a music studio, greenhouse, design labs, a film studio, and much more. I feel very safe in this school and the environment is good and very diverse.
I enjoy participating in my Music Production and Performance class. My academic classes are good. Campus has great outdoor lunch spots.
As a music student, our theater has been under construction for four years so we have never gotten to perform in our own theater at our school.
As a county school its hard to participate in after school programs unless you live near the school. there are no school dances or other school events except for Prom. Would be great to have more school community activities after school, like a halloween dance, or a homecoming/alumni events.

My daughter transferred sophomore year at the height of the pandemic. The staff was very welcoming and helpful to us. Unfortunately, my daughter encountered a lot of overt racism in her first few weeks of school. The staff is also not as diverse as we would’ve liked. In in her senior year, there was not as much guidance and help with finding scholarships and financial aid help as I would have expected. The school has great programs, and has really stepped up their academic standing as far as the different programs offered.
My time at MCVTS was quite the emotional rollercoaster. From being masked up and barely attending my freshman and sophomore year, to really getting a feel for the school my junior and senior year. One positive thing about my school is our fantastic softball team that I’ve had the opportunity to play on and make ever lasting friendships. One negative is the lack of activities and extracurriculars we offer outside of our shops as we don’t compare to an average high school. All in all, I don’t regret my decision of attending my school as i’ve met my best friends here and made solid relationships with administrators.
It's been such a great experience for me with this school . I have been with the graphic arts department for all four years . Friendly teachers and staff and guidance has been great for me . I recommend this school to anyone that wants to think out of the box .
My experience at Middlesex County Vocational & Technical School (East Brunswick Campus) was about as average as possible. The school's education is average, offering very few honors and AP classes. The shop classes take up a good portion of the day. The courses are not hard if you pay attention and do the work. In terms of receiving a "high school experience", you'll miss out on a lot of traditional events such as football games, pep rallies, homecomings, etc. But if you are looking for college credit or workforce experience, it's a good place to study at.
Overall, my experience was good. The teachers are nice enough, however, administration is definitely reluctant to take action against discrimination of any kind. In terms of academics I'd say it's pretty average, but it really depends on what teacher you have.
MCVTS allows its students multiple branches to prepare for a career in a specific field of their liking. However, they should improve in preparing their students with making better college preparatory steps beginning on their freshman years. Also, helping them prepare for real life scenarios and experiences that will come their way eventually.
The school is filled with amazing teachers who care about teacher but the administration is filled with hypocrites... students are scrutinized for standing up against the racism that comes from both students and teachers. Protects cheerleaders doing black face and kids flying their confederate flags around the school and defend it as freedom of speech but god forbid some kids dont stand for the flag then they complain to the teachers and tell them we need to stand up...
My experience was exceptional.. The faculty is top notch. They are patient and personable with students.
The hand on trades are what makes this school different from all others. You stay in your trade all four years of high school and you learn more and more about your trade each year. Since the academics aren't all too difficult, I was left with a lot of time for clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities.
I love how the school gives you the ability the try your trade at the beginning of your high school experience. I have met many people from different fields who can help me in the future and my guidance couselor has but helped me get prepared for college.
I was a part of the dance program and I loved everything about it. Not only did I learn the academics all high schools require, I was able to be immersed in the art of dance for the other half of the day. We learned and strengthened the technique, the history, the different cultures, as well as develop other interdisciplinary skills that would help us outside of the dance world.
This school is very diverse. Not diverse in the racial sense, but in the characteristic sense. You will meet so many different personalities here. This can be a blessing and curse at the same time. A lot of aspects of this school are run by student politics which isn't fun as a student. Academically this school is average, when coming here though I expected much more.
The shops are really great, especially if you know what you want to do in life, it will give you opportunities for the future. However, that's basically the only thing that is beneficial. The academics are average at best, there are only two honors classes available, and no AP. Although I understand that this is more of a trade focused school, the academics should be a bit more challenging.
The atmosphere of this school is a bit depressing at times, but shops really compensate for that. Academic teachers are relatively nice, however they say some questionable things. The administration don't really properly handle important issues, and most of the time just brush it off.
I'd say this school is lacking academic focus in general, however they compensate with the various programs they offer, if that's what you want.
