Hello Parents & Future Middle College,
It is my honor to share my overall experience about Middle College High School. Middle College High School was one of the best Durham Public Schools High Schools for our daughter. Our principal Mrs. Navarro was the BEST! She was so warm, understanding, knowledgeable, and could relate to the students and the parents. Mrs. Tiffany Brown was our #1 counselor. I will never forget Mr. Parr

Overall, there are a lot of opportunities presented by Middle College High School. Students are allowed to take single semester courses in both High School and College level classes. In addition, the education is free. MCHS either lends the books to its students, or gives the students waivers to purchase the books and access codes in the campus book store. By taking college courses, you are able to work toward receiving an associates in whatever you are interested in, whether that be an associates in engineeering, science, or arts. Overall, the campus may not be the prettiest, and the classrooms may not be the newest, but it certainly is a much better environment than most High Schools. I am now a Senior, soon to be heading off to College, but I will never forget the High School that prepared me for such: Middle College High School.
In many ways, DTCC is a wonderful option for those attempting to escape the trivial, long, and pointless hours of North Carolina public High School in search of a great opportunity (earning your Associates Degree or trade degree). The teachers are kind, but it's difficult to make friends given most of your classes will be with older students. In many ways a lot of the "traditional" school things I would be ranking MCHS at DTCC on are pointless because in all honesty, it doesn't operate like the average High School.
