MCHS is a pretty average school. It's located in a poorer, rural area, so it doesnt really have a ton of funding. Very small school to, so things are pretty easy to find. I would say teachers are pretty good this year (better than they were in the past), though they struggle to keep a spanish teacher (though the new one they got this year is really good in my opinion). I also really like the food. There's also only a handful of AP classes available, almost all are for SS (though I think there is one english and one science), would've preferred more. There's also not a lot to be offered club wise.
This school is run mostly through politics and a guidance counselor that does not have the student's best interest in mind. Everything has become about pushing students to have great standardized test scores so that the school can have more money, which shouldn't be happening. Having said that, the teachers are absolutely amazing, and I have had some of the best memories with them and with the friends I have made. I feel sad having to leave these hallways because they have taught me more about life and loyalty than anything else.
I like how Mid-Carolina has a zero tolerance for bad behavior. The policy eliminates a lot of trouble that could go on at the school. I feel that having less drama causes me to focus on my schoolwork more. Although there is less drama at the school, the school still has it's negatives. For instance, the school has a lot of racism. Many minorities get treated worse than Caucasians. The Caucasians do not get in as much trouble as minorities do. Also, there is racism in sports. Minority children may get less playing time than Caucasians even if they are just as good or better. This is extremely unfair to children. I wish I could change the amount of racism at Mid- Carolina High School.
