My first two years at MLEC were amazing! I felt welcomed in such diverse community and I was able to pursue my career at a young age. However, my Junior and Senior year were nothing but a pure disappointment. The change in administration led to the depletion of several programs within the magnet institution all being of Communication and Art fields. If you plan on applying to the Academy Cambridge or Information Technology, expect great opportunities and plenty of funding; if you are interested in any of the other offered programs, expect either terrible instructors, discrimination, or the complete elimination of your field all together. MLEC's academics are elevated outside of the career pathways, but in my personal opinion, a slightly above average learning environment isn't worth risking your safety as I was questioned by law enforcement three times throughout my four years there for incidents I witnessed and had to keep secret.

Miami Lakes Educational Center is an amazing place to be! At MLEC there is extremely strong academics. By being a student at Miami Lakes I have been studying to be a dental assistant and I will become certified this upcoming summer at the age of 18! Not many people can say that and I am thankful for Miami Lakes for giving me this opportunity.
Also there at MLEC we take pride in our academics. We take so much pride that we named were named "The Number One Magnet School in the Nation" as of last year. Due to our hard work and determination we earned that title and we hope to keep it.
Although Miami Lakes has strong academics, there are no sports or auxiliaries. I would like to see that change. By having sports and auxiliaries it allows students to demonstrate their talents physically and not always mentally.
With my personal experiences in MLEC's Information Technology Academy i can proudly say that I am on the road to success! The purpose of this educational center is to prepare students to become ready for the business world strictly stressing the importance and necessity of Certifications and Summer Internships that provide work experience making students a superior candidate in the workforce. Leaving MLEC's Information Technology Academy you can easily acquire $60,000-$85,000 in the Cisco Networking career path becoming certified in CCENT (entree level) and ultimately CCNA certified by graduation.
Sports are not included in this school but may find physical activities in clubs.
