The academics are phenomenal! The teachers can work with you 1 on 1, so it’s perfect if you’re struggling with a subject. However, I find the school administrators and those that work for the school, to not comprehend technology. That’s a major problem for an ONLINE school. In addition, there aren’t that many clubs, which I think is another issue. However, it is relatively easy to get your school supplies and ship last years’ back!
The online was like others. Teachers well all but one was always respectful, engaging, and encouraging. My son has an IEP. Was not update not until a day after school ended. The person in charge forgot it set meeting time, reschedule the next day which then I was not able to attend. My son has no assistance neither did I so that I could better support him. I didn't like that they get a place go for state testing however they didn't for NHS or eighth grade promotion l. I also over heard my son's teacher was being rude, unprofessional and yelling at them while talking them down
This was a great school. To be honest, I joined Miami Dade Online Academy in my Sophomore year because the year before there was a shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and i left my physical school (South Miami) because i didn't feel safe. And MDO was very welcoming and it made me feel safe that I could do school from my house. And then when Covid hit in my Junior year, I felt that i was ready for the lockdown unlike many students who went to physical schools and thats thanks to MDO. MDO has really helped me and i love the staff who always genuinely wanted the best for me. Lots of love always to Everyone in MDO. And thank you for helping me graduate on time in class of 2021.
