I would like to see more opportunities outside of the magnet classes. School life and academics are crafted around magnets when academics are what colleges are looking at. Magnet classes also hamper students' opportunities because of the time of day they are based on. Higher level students actually are at a disadvantage because this school opts for their classes to be at the end of the day, which disallows for programs like executive internships and the like. Academics are strong, but many students who choose AP classes are not given the choice for those advanced classes because their magnet class interferes, thus impacting their attractiveness to higher institutions.

I have been a student at MAS since 2012 and the change I have seen is incredible. MAS started as an ordinary public school but it has slowly turned into a magnet public school that many parents dream for their child to attend. My experience at MAS has been extremely pleasant, from the incredibly involved teachers and administration to the security guards, janitors, and students. MAS gives so many academic and artistic opportunities to the students, from as early as 6 grade. Not only does MAS focus on fine arts but it also focuses on community service and giving back to the community. Only thing I would change for upcoming years is maybe including sports, I honestly think if MAS includes sports into the school it will be on of the best schools in Miami-Dade.
I absolutely love my school. I have been here all four years of my high school experience, I have been able to dance every single day and practice my passion. Without the strictness and regulations this school has I probably could of been a different person. This school forces you to stay on track and takes on you on the road to success, if you let it. Very recommended school for intellectual, dedicated students!
