My son went to MAC for middle school. 6th and 7th were wonderful, the teachers were great. Last year, when my son was in 8th grade, everything fell downhill. the new campus, the teachers were terrible and my son ended up taking Algebra this summer (even though he passed) because he had no information.Th algebra teacher was horrible and would complain to the students. The physical science teacher struggled, but she was a new teacher, and towards the end of the year she improved, but for some reason they fired her and the kids had a substitute. The principal is just trying to fill up this new building with people nd wants to let people in to the school w/o audition. When my son wanted to go to another school, they refused to give him any recommendation letters. The arts departments however, the creative writing and orchestra and art and basically all the other arts are excellent. Those teachers really work their butts off and I appreciate them as well as Mr. Leon great!

As a student who’s spent a lot of time at the school, it’s a fraud of an arts school! The art teachers are heavily influenced by favoritism especially the theatre program as it’s one of the biggest programs but only the same 5 go on stage, talent being wasted! Academically there’s only two good teachers who know what they are doing.
The principal does not care about his students and he is barely present at the school. Even though it is an arts school, students still enjoy the sports aspect of high school. So there need to be more sports related activities. There could also use an increase in clubs. Every year, high school students get to go to a 5-day overnight camp at Umatilla, which is always an amazing experience!
