Methuen High School Reviews
Rating 3.83 out of 5 248 reviews
Most teachers care a lot about the subjects they teach and their students education and are willing to do whatever is they can to ensure that their students succeed. I’ve made very close relationships with most of my teachers and was able to ask for extra help when needed with school work and even was able to go to some of them with outside problems. The school makes great accommodations for students struggling with mental or physical health issues. I missed two weeks of school for medical reasons and was able to slowly get back into the swing of things with the assistance of my guidance counselor and teachers who accommodated to my needs. The downside of Methuen High is the lack of diversity within the staff. I am aware that it is something that have acknowledged and recognized and are working on fixing. They also do their best to acknowledge and recognize all students, in sports and clubs (including band and theater).
Teachers at Methuen High were great, it was easy to tell that they really cared about my success and overall wellbeing in and out of school. I formed real connections with teachers over the years that have guided me even after graduation and provide references for employment. This school is very strict on using the bathroom and being in the hallways during class time which became problematic when it felt like a crime to use the bathroom.
What I liked most about Methuen High School was the opportunity it gave me to grow. I felt more at home at this public school than going to a private school. Academics were great, and they have really prepared me for my interests in college that include business and psychology. The one thing I would want to be changed is the bathrooms. Every intermission between blocks there is smokers in the bathrooms. If there was more security on consequences for this, I believe this school would hold a better environment. I, often had to use the bathroom, and it was annoying to walk into the bathroom with 20+ kids sitting around smoking. I can only imagine what the younger kids feel like dealing with this, and hope something can change.
