I have been really impressed with the amount of effort some teachers put into teaching every morning. They don't have to, but they choose to. It takes a special kind of person to be a teacher and Methacton has a number of them. The Methacton School District has multiple pharmaceutical companies within its lines. This means that there are some very intelligent parents in the area with some very intelligent children that may or may not attend the local public school. I am continuously challenged by my peers to rise to a higher bar, academics-wise. Methacton sometimes struggles with listening to the community; board meetings intended to hear out adults in the area are often humorous to watch in how passionate they can get. There's nothing special about Methacton High School: we don't forge the frontier or stand out among other schools (except for maybe our all-male beauty pageant). Just your average majority-white, upper-middle class, suburban, 1,500 student high school.
I loved it here, and as a person with autism I easily made some great friends. The teachers here are kind and helpful, and the environment was inclusive. The students here were all very nice to me, which was a welcome change after a negative experience at a previous school. There is an effort to include everyone, and the school is much less cliquey than others I have been to. I ran track and went to nearly all of the school events. I'm now succeeding in college, something that my previous school said I couldn't do, thanks to the preparation I received at Methacton. It was an all-around great experience, and I'll always wish I could go back to the days I spent here.
Methacton has provided me with a great education. Most teachers at the high school care about their students, their wellbeing, and their success within the classroom. Outside of the classroom, Methacton works hard to promote mental health and brings in plenty of speakers to talk about important topics. There are plenty of fun traditions that make going to school there enjoyable!
