Merritt Island High school is a wonderful community, every student finds their own special path in the school. I am a part of the Theatre department, which is an incredible program with some amazing teachers. Every program at Merritt island is well supported with kind and caring teachers, parents and administration. The students all have such a strong community. Every football game is attended by the majority of the student body, as well as soccer games, baseball and volleyball. Merritt Island has a very strong sports programs, especially volleyball. The school also offers a wide range of clubs, we have a very strong SGA, Marine Science club, International Thespians, GSA and so many more. I personally am apart of six clubs in total, each wonderful organizations . Overall, I’m extremely grateful for my decisions to attend Merritt Island High school. Once a Mustang always a Mustang!
I moved to this school to join an Aerospace Engineering program. I joined it and after a while, I found out that they don't really use it anymore. They advertised field trips and helpful experiences, but we have only done 3D Mechanical design work on the computer. Nothing hands-on like they had said. Not only that, but this school's math department and teachers are not the best. But I do like the rest of the teachers. They're nice and always willing to help. Especially in the Spanish department. I would like teachers and administration to be more understanding towards students.
Merritt Island High School has an amazing school spirit, however there is room for improvement. There is a vast diversity of different sport, clubs, and other extracurriculars. In my classes, I feel as though they require a good amount of self-studying for exams. In addition, it is quite difficult to arrange transport due to extracurriculars being before and after school.
