Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School Reviews

It was a decent experience at most. Maybe even worse then that with all honesty. I came in my freshman year in 2019. It was going well until covid hit them everything hit a downward spiral. My sophomore year spent during covid was my worst year by far, a lot of teachers weren’t accustomed to teaching over a screen, though many did adapt to it I’ll admit especially my AP and trade (engineering) teachers. Junior year was very weird as half of my highschool years were basically spent over a computer and you can tell many teachers and students alike didn’t readjust but for every bad thing there is a good thing. Coming back I was able to finally run my first full season of track and field. Which has opened up many windows of opportunity in my life so far. Especially coming into my senior year. The sports and trades at the school are relatively good but from my experience in engineering and track I feel like my coaches and teachers prepared me in every way possible.
Being at Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School for four years was truly a roller coaster. Our, Class of 2022’s first year was awesome and I think it’s something we can all agree on. Fresh out of middle school, new people, new faces, and new individual personas. This was the place we’d either find ourselves at or create ourselves for the next four years. We went from being treated like children to actually being treated like adults. Tenth grade was even more awesome but was unfortunately cut short due to Covid. We went on to have two years of our high school experience stolen from us. Personally junior year was the worse year of my life. My anxiety sky rocketed and I developed depression. I hated virtual school, my life was a loop. Going from being in person where the environment is so full of life to working 3 jobs and going to school in my bedroom learning absolutely nothing was a major change. I just wish during our senior year we were cut slack & not extorted for class dues
My name is Sashae Robinson and I'm a junior at Mergenthaler and last three years has been rough but every second of it is worth it. I have one more year to go and I have learned so much from my past three years such as leadership skills, confidence, and motivational skills that can be used outside of school. When I first got to high school I was unsure of what I wanted to do or become after high school, and I was very stressed along with my grades being low. But throughout this hardship of my life God has placed so many amazing people in my life that has highly motivated me to become the person I am today. It is such an amazing thing to see how God works in many ways, God has placed amazing teachers and friends in my space and it has ben a blessing ever since.
