About
Applying
Menlo Park Academy is a tuition-free public school for gifted children (K-8) who ask a lot of questions, love to learn, and are passionate about their interests. When not challenged, gifted children can act out or tune out. At Menlo, students are challenged by ability, not age. Our teachers build children’s confidence. Our students empower themselves to ask even better questions, make connections, and find meaning.
We know that gifted children are an at-risk group of learners. They need a dynamic environment customized to their unique learning and social needs. Gifted children need a community of like-minded peers, academic programs designed to inspire depth of study and eliminate ceilings, and an opportunity to belong.
Gifted children do not need to wait until third grade to access an all-gifted program, or attend a gifted class once a week. Gifted children’s tomorrows are not bound to yesterday’s approach if you act today.

Menlo Park Academy Reviews
My daughter feels at home at Menlo. Everyone gets her and her uniqueness. She found "her" people, both fellow students and teachers, and I hear that a lot from other Menlo parents. She felt like an outsider and misunderstood at our local school, and she was always bored. Not at Menlo.
The teachers are amazing! They care so much for their students, and teach at a pace appropriate for gifted kids (much faster than local schools). They constantly evaluate kids for readiness to progress to the next level up, and move them there when ready, regardless of what grade they're in, how old they are, or where they are in the school year.
Menlo is THE place for gifted kids.
The students there are so open. They embraced me with open arms, and they will embrace you too. Students have their personal Chromebooks and they hang out after school over them and form the closest of ties.
There are a variety of extracurricular opportunities too. There's a Spelling Bee where the whole school watches; and when I was there one of my classmates founded an Anime Club. It's just such a fun place to learn and thrive.
I was there one year and I can say without a doubt it was the best year of my life so far. I have been to some of the best ranked schools but none of them can come close to replicating Menlo's spirit, its environment. It is truly the best place one could possibly hope for.
