Mendell Elementary School Reviews

I'm currently in sixth grade and went to the Mendell up until third grade. My brother is currently a fourth grade student there. I absolutely loved my time at the Mendell and constantly regret leaving for the advanced work class at another school. The teachers were so nice and supportive but still pushed me to high standards. They also supported those students who were struggling and made sure they understood the lessons. One example would be my friend who had dislexia and transferred to the Mendell at the beginning of second grade. The teacher was able to help her get from way below the ELA reading standards to above the standard despite her insistence that she couldn't read. There is also lots of parent AND student involvement which creates a great school environment.

Child in first grade at the Mendell and thriving. Academics in the younger grades (which is all I can speak to) are excellent. This will undoubtably show up in test scores at the grade 3 point. Warm classrooms with student teacher ratio of 11:1.

Thriving ARTS and science opportunities with a new outdoor classroom which has received national notice. Strong principal and multiple outside partnerships. The after school program is very well run (in conjunction with the Y). Won a "hidden gem" award from BPS. Facilities older and small school but that has positives as well as negatives. Lots of activities
