I moved to melissa as an incoming freshman. Melissa school district did not disappoint. They quickly renovate the school giving the students a better learning environment.
However there is always downside, due to Melissa high school being the only high school in the rapidly growing town of Melissa, Texas the student population outnumbers the occupancy limit of the school.
With that students are crammed into “open concept” classrooms that are unsafe due to the continued shooting threats we receive from are own students. But if a student is lucky enough to not be in an open concept classroom they will most likely be put in a portable class room. Portables are good for a short amount of time, but north east Texas wether is not appropriate for said portables. In the blazing summer heat the classrooms can reach up to 100 degrees and in the winter it can go below 40. And the icing on the cake is the tornados damaging the classrooms and the school not replacing or fixing them.

The best part of my high school experience would have to be the opportunities that I gained while in attendance there. My school sported an incredibly well funded CTE program, and because of that program I was able to land an internship right after graduation that will continue into the following school year. Though my time there wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. The worst part of my experience would have to be the difficulty of the courses I took. It was honestly a double edged sword, the classes I took pushed me to my limit but instilled and influenced a sense of excellence upon their completion. I would say that the main thing I would like to see change would be the size of the district, though it's something beyond their control. My high school was likely at or above capacity, the classrooms were always crowded and rarely had enough supplies in academic courses.
Ever since I've moved to Melissa I have been more academically challenged then any of my previous schools. This is good because I strive to always improve my intellectual capabilities and Melissa has helped me with this. I have made friends at this school that I can honestly trust and tell things to and I believe that the friendships and bonds built at Melissa will honestly last throughout my life. Although there are so many wonderful things in Melissa there are some things that could use improvement. When it comes to space I feel we are limited. Melissa is growing so fast that it is hard to keep up with. We are constantly building more things to keep up with the constant flow of new students and people coming and although it is good that they are trying to keep up, the construction during the day does affect some people ability to stay focused because of the constant noises. There is not a lot about Melissa I would change so that is the only thing that came to mind.
