MHS is a very academic-focused school that has a lot of options for its highest-achieving students, but it has some problems with flexibility. Most teachers will give extensions based on circumstances. There is less schedule room to prioritize music and arts. However, Medfield is still a great place for music. It’s difficult to get good replacements for our teachers (especially in the math department), and having 3 different teachers for one class throughout a year is too common. Most students are involved in various activities because everything is so college-centered. The town is wealthy and not racially diverse, but our school feels accepting towards LGBTQIAP+ youth. I’m grateful to have attended this school, but I know there are many who don’t feel this way. Because people here know there are more problematic places, it becomes difficult for them to see the problems here.
I was extremely happy at Medfield High School. It was a great mix of academics and athletics for me. I was in College Prep, Honors and Advanced Placement classes. I was a member of several clubs and was an 'All Star' in two varsity sports. My SAT scores were over 1300. I will be academically and emotionally ready for college at Fordham University in September 2022. I am in the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society. The school and student have a lot of pride. I will have everlasting memories and friendships from Medfield.
In terms of an education, I believe Medfield High School givers students access to a phenomenal education that properly prepares students for college level courses. The teachers are all great and dedicated to student success. The only flaw is that Medfield is very cliquey.
