Mead High School certainly isn't perfect, but I believe it is a great school nonetheless. There are several teachers working in the Mead school district that have inspired me to further my interest in anthropology. I am very grateful towards them for fanning this flame instead of discouraging me, like most other teachers I have known. On the other hand, in my experience, the students are not very kind. I found that my high school life was much easier when I kept to myself, rather than try to be outgoing. As much as I like Mead, escaping to college was a breath of fresh air.
Mead is a great school. They have excellent teachers who truly care about how well we re understanding material and they want us to excell. The only thing I think they can improve on is caring about our seniors during this hard time. Most other schools in the spokane area have done so much for their seniors including spray painting on football fields, decorating parking spots and delivering signs to every seniors house. Mead has delivered signs to seniors; however, I know quite a few who did not happen to get one. I therefore think Mead needs to do more but other than that, they are amazing!
I believe the academics are amazing. I have enjoyed taking electives as well as AP classes. The teachers are involved and care about your learning and your personal growth experience.
Many of my teachers are coaches or assistant coaches in the school. One of my favorites classes and teachers was AP language. We write general admission essay for a college. It allowed to get started early on thinking about the colleges I may want to attend. And then eventually visit them. I have also played soccer on varsity for the last fours years. It is completive soccer which keeps me in shape. In addition to life long friendships with my team mates.
Mead High Schools mission statement is, You Belong. And I have defiantly embraced this journey over the last four years.
