McPherson High School (MHS) has just under 800 students in the school. It has given me great athletic and academic opportunity, while feeling like all of my teachers get to know me. MHS offers a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) classes that I have enjoyed having the opportunity to take throughout my high school experience. I have also participated in cross country and track for all four of my high school years and been on the varsity team all four years. With coaches that have helped me to improve my speed and character as well. Some downsides to the school would include that the building itself is very old and some teachers are in need of newer, more advanced technology.
My experience at McPherson High school was made positive by my peers, as well as a few teachers that stand out from the rest. While my school has a fairly terrible reputation in terms of facilities, education, and student behavior, we have a few genuinely good teachers that make the days worth it. Despite sub par facilities and student attitudes, they really care about the students, and do everything in their power to further our education in a positive manner. If I could change one thing about my school it would absolutely be the student attitude.
My experience at a student at McPherson high school could not have gone better. The teachers were there for me, they were there for every student (at least from my knowledge they have been) Our counselors want the best for us and will constantly check up on us. The school promotes good relationships with all students, they encourage the students to get involved with the community and get to know the people in it. There are clubs for all sorts of personalities, and classes for everyone as well. The drama department completes plays/musicals every year that always go amazingly. The shop and auto department are always being improved. Our athletics go above and beyond with having 53 state titles. Mcpherson High School (including the entire distric of 418) is the best district in Kansas. We have an outstanding group of children, families, and teacher.
