Attending McMinnville High School has been an amazing experience. I can confidently say all staff are there to support the students. I have amazing relationships with multiple different teachers and advisors. The staff is dedicated to making high school a great experience for all students by planning inclusive activities, creative projects, events to acknowledge the mental health of each student, and much more. Three years ago they sent out a survey to students allowing them to share their thoughts and concerns regarding the dress code. Because they allowed us to use our voices, students were able to change the dress code regulations and create a more comfortable learning environment where students are able to express themselves better. McMinnville High School is all about the students, and I'm proud to be a grizzly!
During my time at McMinnville High School I have been welcomed and supported by both the staff and my peers countless times. I think my high school has many great outreach programs that help in assisting kids in their mental health, and their academic goals. Some of my favorite experiences at my high school include the school spirit activities, and the sporting events that have allowed the student body to grow closer. I believe my school excels in prioritizing student moral and unification. I am also grateful for the ability to create great relationships with my peers and teachers in a comfortable yet academically challenging environment. One of the only changes I would like to see happen in my school is the divide of my school into two schools. Although the district is worried about losing our 6A division title, cutting our school into two would allow for our school to not be just under 2500 students, and perhaps focus more on the student body instead of prioritizing athletics.
McMinnville High School is a school knows for its wide diversity and acceptance among its students. Students have a wide variety of clubs and sports to choose from, and lots of activities to get involved. Activities include monthly assemblies, numerous spirt weeks, homecoming and prom, red carpet walks (where students are given the choice to dance down a red carpet, that is randomly placed somewhere in the school, during passing time), and many other options as well! While McMinnville High school does an amazing job at making sure students feel safe and accepted, monthly advisory polls are sent out checking in with each and every individual student, and for those who need it, counseling and household items are provided to every student free of charge.
