Mclean is a pretty great school for a public school option. The school is a good environment for students to grow into responsible and well-adjusted young adults. The staff is great, but if you get a teacher you don't like, I really advise that you talk to your counselor because being stuck with a teacher that doesn't accommodate your learning needs will be detrimental to your education at McLean. The school does have cockroaches, so never leave your backpack open or one might crawl in(talking from experience). STEM classes are great at McLean and they offer a lot of interesting electives, so make sure to try everything out while you're there! Overall, it's a great school.

I loved the environment of the high school. All of my teachers were great and I graduated feeling ready and prepared for college! The counselors there were also great. They really did their job well ensuring students got the best education they could and all the help they needed. If I was ever struggling, I knew I could go to my teachers for help. I knew they cared for me a great deal. I also made a lot of friends there! There is a great sense of community throughout the school. There are also so many opportunities to get involved in something! There are a plethora of clubs and lots of sports too! Everyone can find something for them.
McLean High School provides every student with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. There are an abundance of AP courses, academies, and DE classes for the ones not at McLean. However, the facilities are horrific, the bathrooms lack necessities such as stall doors and locks, there is rarely paper towels available or soap in the dispensers. There are some spectacular teachers who truly motivate the students to be successful; however, the math and science departments are lacking.McLean students are fortunate enough to be able to afford tutors to compensate for this. Many students feel the overwhelming pressure to succeed which the atmosphere portrays as taking the most AP classes as possible.Yet,McLean has minimal bullying, a good community, great facility to student relationships, and tons of school spirit. Many of the counselors are exceptional and overall,MHS is what the student makes of it, and most people are grateful for the abundance of resources Mclean has to offer.
