McKay High School Reviews
Rating 3.8 out of 5 469 reviews
I had hits and misses with teachers; I worked hard to get out of some teachers' classes and get a new one because I knew I wouldn't do well with their poor teaching style. There were some teachers I had a great relationship with and succeeded in their classes because of their engaging teaching style. My peers ranged from Islanders who were new to America to people who had just moved there from New York to someone I actually remembered from kindergarten in my hometown of Woodburn. I rarely ate the food that was there and just starved until I could eat at home. The insane length of the lines was not worth the mediocre food. I felt like security was too strict; I was five feet from my class and the bell rang, and security stopped me to mark me late. Yet there were always fights breaking out or vandalism and they could never figure out who did it. Heaven forbid I'm four seconds late to class though. Overall, McKay is a good school and doesn't deserve the bad reputation it has.
Mckay High School was an amazing experience for me. I’m hispanic and I loved being at mckay because there was a lot of diversity. Most of the teachers always helped me and other students with whatever problems we had, wether it was about school, personal life, or even just random, they would always help us. Mckay staff will always be on top, all the security guards and teachers are so sweet and funny, they care about you and that’s important. I wouldn’t change anything big about Mckay, but one thing they would improve on is giving us more knowledge about college, i feel like giving a specific time like during lunch or something where they tell us more about college, for people who don’t have classes who teach them about college. Overall, I loved Mckay Highschool and it was definitely a fun experience.
McKay has a friendly environment with passionate teachers. The teachers here are committed to helping students when they are in need of help. The academics of McKay are very good as they allow a lot of variety in class topics and class difficulty. The extracurricular activities at McKay are also a highlight of the school as they offer many different clubs outside of school. The sports, music, and arts programs are also available for students to join and participate in. The facilities of McKay have improved recently which has added more space for classes and created classrooms specifically for certain careers like agriculture, culinary, and engineering.
