The Teachers at McDowell High School are very involved, they make sure that you have all your work done and if you need help they are there for you. I don't have any bad parts about being at McDowell High.
McDowell high school is a place where favorites are played. Teachers will pick you if they know your parents over if you are qualified, along with sports. The education s average, but I would recommend going elsewhere.
Overall, this school is certainly not the worst high school I've ever seen. Most teachers are wonderful, just a bit old-fashioned. Some of the students are less than professional, but that's not the fault of the school. My only issue was the way the school system handled the scheduling during the COVID pandemic.
McDowell High School has done a very good job of providing a smooth high school experience. With the pandemic, they have handled things very well and transitioned to online learning very well. My teachers have continued teaching me and I have remained an active student. Sometimes I feel that I was not told about the opportunities at my high school or Techincal Community College and could have taken advantage of them in a better way. On the other hand, I will be attending college with nearly 30 credit hours and I am so grateful for that. My county and high school are considered underresourced but I have tried my best to capitalize every chance I can.
When it comes to my high school, they do there very best to make us all feel safe and loved. All of the teachers go out of their ways to make sure that each student is prepared for the future, and that is ultimately what everyone needs. Even throughout this pandemic, our superintendent, principal and teachers have reached out to us making sure we are alright. I can confidently say at this time, that our school does everything they possibly can for us and will continue to do the same for all the students remaining at our wonderful high school. I am proud to say that I attended high school and McDowell High simply because of how much they care!
It was okay... semi supportive staff but very motivated for sure. Not an adequate sports program but good players with great heart. Excellent NJROTC Program and wonderful EMT/Firefighting students. I definitely reccomend participation in the CTE program.
The teachers at McDowell High are amazing! They want to see every student thrive and graduate. The administration is willing to help out anyone no matter the circumstances.
I am a McDowell High School Alumni and I liked McDowell High School. Most of the teachers were great because they would help you if you ever needed any help related or not related to school and they would make sure you understood the content that they were teaching. The teachers also did a good job of keeping the class entertaining and less boring. I was in marching band and I met most of my friends and even best friends through marching band. The marching band was a fun experience and a good one because you learn how to work and cooperate as a team in order to get drill completed. Everyone is dependent on each other which helps bring people together. The only complaint I have is that there a lot of students there that do not respect others and can treat other students poorly.
Attending McDowell High School was a rewarding experience for me. I felt welcomed and accepted by faculty, staff and other students. McDowell encourages all of their students to succeed academically. I was given countless opportunities to grow and develop my skills and talents. I was apart of multiple clubs where I could meet new people and gain valuable experiences. As far as college readiness, McDowell offered many resources to myself and other students so that the transition to college was as smooth as possible. I wish I had taken advantage of more of the resources that McDowell had to offer when I was still a student there.
The school is well put together, with fantastic factually. The teachers are helpful when students ares struggling with anything even personal problems. There are great clubs and activities for the students to get involved in and even good sports to have fun with. McDowell High is a really good school for students to go to.
The teachers really care about helping you throughout your HS career and help to prepare you for your next steps once you graduate.
McDowell was a great high school experience! One thing that I loved about McDowell is the amount of support and help the faculty offers. They always strive to help you do your best and reach your goals in everything that you do. One thing I would change about McDowell is the the strict policies! There are so many polices and rules that have nothing to do with our education and learning.
I love how teachers are willing to stay after school and do whatever they can to make students understand something that is difficult for them to understand.
I liked that I was really involved with the school. I played junior varsity and varsity basketball and was part of the Dream Team. The food went downhill by the time I was a senior, so I always packed my lunch. As I was graduating they were making a lot of new adjustments like we got a new football field/track and security upgrades.
I enjoyed my time here. I have learned a lot thanks to the amazing teachers I got that lead me in the right directions.
The main thing I liked about McDowell High was simply the teachers. I loved every teacher I had while being there.
What I didn't like is how much bullying went on there. Not much was done that efficiently stopped bullying and fighting. We could've done more.

I have greatly enjoyed McDowell High School during my time here. The teachers that I had were always willing to work with me and they greatly prepared me for the future. I was able to have different research internships and use my knowledge obtained from McDowell.
